What an amazing opportunity for any Christian. This is the kind of thing that only comes around once in a lifetime. This is no ordinary cross; this is the ability to own a piece of the cave where the baby Jesus spent his first night with his mother Mary. You can own a piece of the cave where the magi came to bestow gifts upon the newly born Lord. Here was the cave in the rear of the house, and used for cattle. In a manger, as the most ready and fitting place, the babe was laid. The place where the shepherds came to pay their adorations, the place marked by the star of Bethlehem.
There are many different options, but this is my favorite: The Carpenter’s Cross is the embodiment of the simple life Christ lived. Straight, clean lines, the ultimate in modesty and a true symbol of the working life of Christ, who Himself was a carpenter by trade. With The Original Nativity Stone at the apex of the Cross, this is the perfect Christian gift for the man, woman or child who strives to live life on a daily basis according to the teachings of Jesus.
Emperor Justinian built the church that now stands over the cave of the nativity in 565 A.D. on the site of a previous church built by Constantine Cesar and his mother the Empress Helena, in 327 A.D. It is one of the oldest churches in the world.
The cave of the nativity is 38 feet long by 11 wide, and a silver star in a marble slab at the eastern end marks the precise spot where the Lord was born. There is an inscription on the star that reads: Hie de virgine Maria Jesus Christus natus est. that means: Here Jesus Christ was born to the Virgin Mary. Silver lamps are always burning around, and an altar stands near, which is used in turn by the monks of the convents. The manger in which the Lord was laid was taken to Rome by Pope Sixtus V. and placed in the church of St. Maria Maggiore, but a marble one supplies its place. A few feet opposite, an altar marks the spot where the Magi stood. The walls are covered with silken hangings.
The actual birth place of Jesus
The stones that are contained in the crosses were removed during construction in the cave. You can read the story about it here by clicking on the cross, and then on the second page clicking on “The Story.”
This is the only time that stones from this most holy of places will legally be removed. Once these stones sell out, they will never be available again. Tomorrow November 13, 2012 will offer a rare and exciting total eclipse! Well, actually the eclipse will only be visible from a small section of Australia, so it will be November 14 local time where the eclipse is visible. The eclipse’s partial phases will be visible from all of Australia, New Guinea and New Zealand, as well as part of Antarctica and a far-southern slice of South America. The total solar eclipse, however, can only be seen only from a narrow corridor running southeast across Queensland and the Northern Territory in Australia. This will be the first total solar eclipse since July 2010, but that one was only visible from the middle of the ocean! Lucky for us, we can watch a live webcast of the eclipse at SLOOH.com! So, set a reminder for 3:35 PM EST tomorrow and tune in.
Here is some interesting information from Wikipedia about eclipses.
“If the Moon were in a circular orbit close enough to the Earth and in the same orbital plane, there would be total solar eclipses every single month. However, the Moon’s orbit is inclined or tilted at more than 5 degrees to Earth’s orbit around the Sun (see ecliptic) so its shadow at new moon usually misses Earth. Earth’s orbit is called the ecliptic plane as the Moon’s orbit must cross this plane in order for an eclipse (both solar as well as lunar) to occur. In addition, the Moon’s actual orbit is elliptical, often taking it far enough away from Earth that its apparent size is not large enough to block the Sun totally. The orbital planes cross each year at a line of nodes resulting in at least two, and up to five, solar eclipses occurring each year; no more than two of which can be total eclipses. Total solar eclipses are nevertheless rare at any particular location because totality exists only along a narrow path on Earth’s surface traced by the Moon’s shadow or umbra.
An eclipse is a natural phenomenon. Nevertheless, in some ancient and modern cultures, solar eclipses have been attributed to supernatural causes or regarded as bad omens. A total solar eclipse can be frightening to people who are unaware of its astronomical explanation, as the Sun seems to disappear during the day and the sky darkens in a matter of minutes.”

I’m a vivid dreamer and have always been fascinated by my dreams! I recently came across this super cool new product called the Remee. Here’s a little bit about it……”have you ever had a dream where you knew you were dreaming? What did you do? Did you wake up and think nothing more of it? What would you say if we told you you were on the verge of something entertaining or even sublime? Lucid Dreaming is the ability to understand and control your dreams as they happen, and it’s something people have been doing for thousands of years!” “Remee is a specialized sleep mask designed to help increase the frequency of your Lucid Dreams.”
This sounded soooo cool to me that I’ve pre-ordered one. Can’t wait to try it out!
If you’re anything like me you have things floating around in your head all of the time from smaller daily ideas such as, “i’d love to start meditating twice every day” to bigger picture things such as “i’d love to learn a foreign language.” The hangup for me is often accountability when it comes to actually accomplishing some of these goals. That’s why when I stumbled across this site not long ago I loved the concept! Intent.com is “a community where members can share their dreams and aspirations, and receive support from others. This is your online destination for turning your intention into tangible action, and inspiring others to do the same.” It was founded by Mallika Chopra, daughter of infamous Deepak Chopra.
I love summer time including all of the indulgences that come along with it…..homemade ice cream, blueberry pie and great BBQ to name just a few! As fall quickly approaches I’ve found myself feeling a bit sluggish from all of this summer goodness and think a brief cleanse may be in order. I’m not one for long, strict cleanses. A few days to a week at most, is about all I typically have the willpower to accomplish but even just a few small shifts in my diet can really make a big difference. With that in mind I went on a search and found some great kale recipes that are fantastic for detoxing. I plan to try them out within the next month, I’ll keep you posted!
I really enjoy yoga, not to mention feel amazing on the days that I dedicate even just 10-15 minutes to practicing first thing in the morning. I also enjoy going to yoga classes however find it can be a bit expensive and often find it difficult to set time aside to go to an actual studio. For me I like the flexibility of practicing at home when it’s most convenient for me. I’ve been subscribing to different yoga websites for a few years now. Most of them have great yoga videos that I can watch on my computer to build my home practice. Although these sites are fairly inexpensive, I’ve just found a great site that offers a fantastic selection of yoga videos and best yet is 100% free & wanted to share it with you! http://www.doyogawithme.com
Although I’m not Vegan, I enjoy trying tasty food that’s healthy too! This is a great list of Kris Carr’s (the super awesome woman behind crazysexylife.com) favorite NYC Vegan restaurants. I’ve had the pleasure of trying out a few of them & hope to check all of them off of the list at some point! Even if you’re not vegetarian or vegan I’d encourage you to give some of these a shot if you’re ever in The Big Apple! Oh, and let us know if you have any favorite spots that offer some healthy fare too!
